I couldn't think of what to use either of these for. But it dawned on me that since I'm going traveling this spring I could use a personal search engine to find places to see. So far they've both been very helpful though coming up with alot of the same sites.

Second Life
I just got off Second Life after being on for about 2 - 3 hours. I'm not even sure how long. It was hysterical! I stayed on Help Island most of the time to try to learn to walk and move around. It's kind of weird talking to other people. And how come so many don't have clothes on?

Photobucket or Flickr
I forgot to blog about photo sharing. When creating my vlog for the final project on Blogger, I saw that there's a new feature where you can add a page element and configure a slide show on your blog from a few places including Photobucket and Flickr.
Colleges Embrace Social Media
An interesting article on the front page of The Journal News (my home paper) today. "School Search - networking it" about the latest trend in college admissions. They are embracing the use of social media - blogs, message boards, podcasts, and socialnetworking sites...

"...social networking profiles were more likely to be viewed (by colleges) when it comes to competitive scholarships."
DriveTime
Here's a link to a video log called DriveTime by Ravi Jain. He and his wife, Sonya, have a weekly video show in their car while commuting in Boston. They have guests too! I found it last week: http://drivetime.ravijain.org/

Happy Thanksgiving!
Tagging
Reading the great article by Elyssa - The Hive Mind...on InfoTangle brings up lots of information and gives tagging much more importance than I once realized.
But what's also interesting is how one can click on the many references and immediately read them. And the comments on your article keep the discussion going and bring up more sites to investigate.
The Internet...a little overwhelming but very amazing.
Del.icio.us makes life a lttle more organized
Signing up for del.icio.us has been an eye opener. I wondered why anyone would want to use it instead of the favorites button on your browser but now I know. I'm always playing musical computers at home and at work and while traveling and also use different browsers. I had bookmarks on my favorites all over the place. Now I can bring them all into one place and finally get rid of the old bookmarks I don't use, too---if I ever find the time!
The feature for finding the more popular ones has already been helpful in finding some specific information.
Startpages
When we first created startpages, I created one in both Netvibes and Pageflakes. I have found that sometimes the Netvibes page had trouble opening and though I liked the look of it more than Pageflakes, I found myself using the latter more. Has anyone else found problems with Netvibes?
Free Think
After reading the reviews about FreeThink, I checked it out and it looks like Microsoft Word. Now I'm just waiting for verification to get in. Has anyone tried it yet?
