It's almost time to do course evaluations! Monday, July 27th at 12:01am Pacific time is the opening of SOTES (Student Opinion of Teaching Effectiveness) which will let you log your opinions about the class. It will be open and available around the clock until August 10th. I've been told that SJSU administration read each and every one of them and take them very seriously, so it's really important for all of you to fill them in. (By the way, I don't get to read them until well after the course is over, so don't feel uncomfortable).

Here are some reasons to fill out the SOTES form:

1) The instructors do read them and do adjust their lessons based on your input. I read all of these in order to learn what is working with the course and what isn't.

2) You are helping students of the future with your comments - It does make a difference.

3) Often the ones who participate are those who are not pleased with the courses. Of course, you should always be honest, but it you find anything at all positive about any of the coursework - for all of your classes - SOTES offers you an opportunity to share your opinion.

4) It's confidential - the answers remain available after they are collected, but we can't tell who wrote which comments.
