Did that title catch your eye?
It caught mine, and that's one of the reasons I chose to post about The Blah, Blah, Blah Blog from the Northeast Florida Library Information Network.
This blog is funcitonal and effective in many ways.
It's updated on a very regular basis and provides links to both NEFLIN and outside information that may be of interest to their members. Each date-and-time-stamped post is tagged with labels/categories; the list of categories is available at the right and makes it easy for readers to jump to posts that may interest them. The authors permit comments on each of the posts, as user-feedback is important to the social aspect of the blog.
It provides readers multiple formats by which to subscribe (email, RSS).
It includes a search box to search past posts, as well as links to other NEFLIN Web 2.0 projects.
Overall, I think it's really a great blog with a mix of informational/event posts and of insightful, library-related musings (questions, conference recaps). I like that the posts are succinct and brief and that the authors hyperlink alot of the URLs and other information in their posts.
Two improvements I feel could behoove the site include adding a few more pictures in the posts. I tend to like graphics, as I feel they add interest. However, I realize they're not necessary.
Also, I feel that perhaps the settings should be changed to show fewer posts on each page. The current settings make for a very long page and a lot of scrolling. Showing only the first paragraph of each post is also a possibility; however, I don't think that is the solution for this blog. Most posts aren't much longer, and requiring readers to click on/open each post for more information seems like it would frustrate the user expecting a quick and succinct post. (They may not take the time to open each message or may miss part of the post.)
