I think it would have been easier. Here's the problem I ran into. I'm using Safari, and I was going through the assignment just as it was laid out in the recording but whenever I would preview my feed on feed2js it would give me an error and say there was nothing to collect. I'd validate the feed and that worked but nothing I did could make it work. Finally, after walking away for a bit, I came back and re-read some of the fine print and noticed it said the feed url must be in http:// format not feed:// format. And that was the problem.

Get A Job!

Right now I believe the most important rss feed we can offer is employment postings. If we could find local employment agencies and counties to produce feeds we could offer this to our patrons. This would help to keep as many people in the community as possible instead of having to uproot families and lose community members, circulation numbers, tax funding etc.

To keep libraries open we need to make sure our local population has the best chance available to grab that job.

What are some ways that you as a librarian/info pro will make use of widgets?

I became inspired this week about the possibilities of RSS publication. Actually, I became inspired a few weeks back to create a blog for my visual resources library -- which I did create using the blogger platform. Then, after this week's activities creating my 'hurricane RSS feed' on the Weebly site, I decided to publish a RSS feed of my blog on our visual resources website -- see it here.

To me the most obvious benefit is the ability to keep
abreast of what is being written and discussed in your field, being able to
pick out topics and follow discussions about them as well as contributing with
