So, did we all have to go into Second Life and perform a mission for 203? When I did, I checked out a Fahrenheit 451 exhibit that was ... interesting. But underwhelming. Then, also, it was in-and-out -- get the task done, and move on.

Facebook page
Here's a link to my Facebook page, but I'm kind of hoping only friends can see it. I can't tell because FB only lets you see how your friends see your page, not anybody else. I just read "Little Brother" (which I posted about before) so I'm all about the privacy these days! Here it is:

Music and pics
Now playing on YouTube: An eclectic selection of music videos (P!nk, Jeff Buckley, Richard Thompson, Johnny Cash): http://www.youtube.com/jodigabrielle
On Flickr: Some pics of some of my fam; also, an unfortunate reality (and a fantasy). Bonus! A Vincent Black Lightning. http://www.flickr.com/photos/41848265@N00/

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, but the five bookmarks I tagged LIBR246-11 have not showed up in my Google reader, even though I subscribed to the RSS feed for that tag. Hmm...
Widgets
What are some ways that you as a librarian/info pro will make use of widgets?
RSS Publication for Information Professionals
It is of no dispute that libraries and other information organizations have benefitted greatly from RSS and its ability to aggregate user-specified information, but perhaps the real potential for RSS within information organizations lies in the ability to actually republish this specified content. It is one thing for an information professional to be able to search for information for their own use, something that is undeniably inherent to the profession; it is entirely different to be able to simply repackage retrieved information and make it easily accessible to a group of end users.

"In what ways do you think that libraries/info organizations could make use of widgets?"
Library websites: some of them are dynamic, interesting, inviting, even elegant. But mostly they suck.
Most of the ones I've run across are static, out-of-date, haphazardly put together, hard on the eyes, poorly maintained. They do not inspire the user to seek information through them. In fact, they often inspire the user to leave the site immediately and seek out someone else's site.
RSS Publication in Libraries -- Wk 4
This week, I will be responding to the question asking us what are some important RSS feeds libraries should use.
