"What types of resources would you suggest creating utilizing a wiki as opposed to a blog?"
Situation:
The librarians at X Library have a blog. They are writing regularly about best practices for new librarians and their blog is being read by library schools and others interest in new librarians and training.
Before the librarians create their weekly blog they use a wiki. The wiki is perfect for this as everyone can:
1. decide on the topic of the week and
2. write about it
To the innocent Web 2.0 bystander the differences between wikis and blogs might not be that apparent. Part of the problem is that people who are already unfamiliar with these applications cannot infer what the application does simply from its name.
Wiki? Blog?
To some these words might sound like an alien language. A better understanding of what these words mean is the first step to knowing their similarities and differences.
I'm doing some work for a branding meeting I am attending next week and came across this on Seth Godin's blog. It's pretty darn funny, a tad scarey, and a good wake up call to all.
Enjoy!

I'm intersted in Art and image repositories so I decided to review Duke University's Digital Collections Blog. (http://library.duke.edu/blogs/digital-collections/) Their blogs contain lots of tips and useful information about digital collections. As we saw in our week two lecture, the blog format is clean and standard with categories, recent posts, recent comments and archives.
Ann Arbor District Library is one of the earliest adopters of Web 2.0. Their very attractive website is using Drupal, the same software that LIBR 246-11 is using (the one you're reading on). They use blogs where they can. For example, the home page is a collection of the latest posts from their various blogs - community, exhibits, books, audio, and etc. You could subscribe to the home page or just the individual blogs.

Browsing environmental news sources so you don't have to, is the motto behind the Environmental News Bits blog.
I really like this website because this is the type of special library (found on Blogging Libraries Wiki) I would love to work in. It is informative on environmental issues and up-to-date. This blog also provides resourceful environmental links in the navigation side bar.
Hi Everyone,
I'm Mary and I'm in my 3rd semester in the SLIS program. Since being in the program, I've recognized the importance of online networking for the sake of one's education, career goals (and sanity). I've lived in Santa Clara, Ca. for 25 years and have worked at several high-tech companies in the area. I'm currently focussing on getting my MLIS degree so that hopefully my job prospects aren't as limited. I'm looking forward to this class, to meeting new people and to learning about the many amazing web 2.0 features available to us.

While their blog is very simple/plain visually, it is well-utilized, though apparently under utilized.
