About MScott
Location: Pasadena, CA
Type of libraries I'm interested in: archives
Hobbies: I worked as a professional photographer and have my bfa in photography so I am kind of consumed with that. It's sort of embarrassing. I'm also interested in art and design typography film. All that stuff.
Favorite Books: I only read textbooks now.
I can't pick a fav. I like novels for the most part but I try to branch out occasionally to read some history of art criticism. The last book I read was Steinbeck's Travels with Charley. And The Elements of Typographic Style by Robert Bringhurst I'm a Stranger Here Myself by Bill Bryson (not as good as In a Sunburned Country or A Short History of Nearly Everything but it went with Travels with Charley). I'm currently re-reading D.J. Waldie's Where We Are Now: Notes from Los Angeles and I picked up Slouching Toward Bethlehem by Joan Didion (from the library).
Don't get me wrong I hardly actually read all this has been over the last couple of years but it would be nice to read be able to read more.
Favorite Bands/Artists: Right now I'm listening to Elvis Perkins in Dearland and Dan Deacon not exclusively of course but after going through my playlist I can't pick faves.
Favorite Films: I like most movies and am more than willing to suspend my disbelief. I'm not too into romantic comedies though.
Favorite TV Shows: I like cop shows. Right now I'm into The Unusuals and Life. Both of which probably won't be back next year. And I like 30 Rock the Office and I'm a die hard 24 junkie. I try not to watch tv too much because I tend to get sucked in too easily waking up a week later having watched an entire season of CSI or something.
What Else?:
I currently live in Pasadena CA with my wife and two year old son. I am a stay at home dad while I work on my degree. I used to work in the photo archive at 20th Century Fox and am interested in the application of digital technologies in an archival environment. I cook and clean and read at night, pretty boring really.
I am about half way through my studies (I would like to graduate next spring), I really enjoyed LIBR 240 and am looking forward to this class as well.
